Boulder, Colo. (December 19, 2013)—USA Ultimate announced today a partnership with NexGen, LLC to provide live streaming and on-demand video coverage of the 2014-15 Triple Crown Tour and USA Ultimate College Championships.
The multi-year agreement complements USA Ultimate’s existing relationship with ESPN by offering additional programming of the national governing body’s flagship events.
Entering its second year in 2014, USA Ultimate’s Triple Crown Tour represents the highest level of competitive ultimate in the world and features North America’s top athletes and teams from the men’s, women’s and mixed divisions. NexGen’s coverage of the Triple Crown Tour will kick off from Minnesota’s Twin Cities next Fourth of July weekend at the third-annual U.S. Open Ultimate Championships and Convention. Coverage will continue throughout the summer at various regular season tournaments before culminating with the season-ending USA Ultimate National Championships.
And for college ultimate fans, NexGen will also provide early round coverage of the USA Ultimate College Championships, beginning with next year’s event in Cincinnati on Memorial Day weekend.
"We’re very excited to team up with NexGen again in order to provide the ultimate community with a steady flow of high-quality content throughout the season," commented Andy Lee, USA Ultimate Director of Marketing and Communications. "NexGen has established itself as a premier producer of ultimate, and so a connection with the sport’s most competitive and prestigious events, namely the Triple Crown Tour and College Championships, is a natural fit."
NexGen has previously produced programming of several world-class ultimate events, including the USA Ultimate College Championships, the USA Ultimate National Championships, the WFDF World U23 World Championships, and its own all-star tour.
"When we started NexGen two years ago Josh (Wardle) and I envisioned a consistent source for broadcasting the best ultimate from the best games and athletes," commented NexGen’s Kevin Minderhout.  "This deal with USA Ultimate is a major step in that direction, and with it, ultimate fans everywhere will know when, where and how to watch great ultimate for several years to come. This execution of a multi-year agreement is especially exciting, not only because it means fans will be getting a consistent source of coverage, but also because it allows us to invest in the NGN experience and implement many improvements such as uptime stability, graphics and user interface."
The multi-year agreement allows for the seamless integration of additional content into current plans and aligns with USA Ultimate’s existing broadcast and digital strategy.
Tom Crawford, CEO of USA Ultimate, described his excitement about the partnership. "I like the structure of the multi-year agreement because it means we’ll be working really closely together to refine and improve how we produce and distribute our events to our internal audience, while we simultaneously work with ESPN on the production to both internal and broad external audiences.  I also think we can use our many relationships in the sports community to create additional opportunities for NexGen to grow as a company and achieve more attractive long-term financial outcomes."
