Boston College won the Team Spirit Award for Pool A, and there was a two-way tie in Pool B between Cornell and Georgia Tech.  This award was voted on after pool play.

Developed in 1987 by Sholom Simon, the UPA College Rankings rankings utilized a computer algorithm based loosely on a formula borrowed from the U.S Chess Federation.
