The 2020 National Skills Challenge is an international virtual event that invites ultimate players from around the world to test their disc and athletic skills against anyone in their division!

In the summer of 2020, USA Ultimate launched the Skills Challenge in the USA Ultimate app. In the National Skills Challenge, participants can sign up to submit their best attempt at each skill individually or as a team of four (4) to compete for prizes!

When:

Registration opens Monday, October 5, 2020 and will stay open through the qualifying window, closing on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MT

Cost:

Individual Event Fee - $5 for entry or $15 for entry with a Skills Challenge disc

Discs are available for purchase when you register and will be mailed to the address on your USAU account. To deliver elsewhere please email skillschallenge@usaultimate.org.

Team Event Fee - $20 for the entire team plus $10 for any disc (up to 4 discs per team)

Team discs must be ordered separately from registration. To order team discs use this order form.

20% of all registration revenue will go to support EDI efforts such as:

  • Providing financial support and resources via USAU's Community Development Grants for local affiliates to offer playing opportunities for racially and ethnically underrepresented youth.

  • Hosting webinars and forums with players, coaches and organizers discussing how to create an inclusive environment on teams and in the broader ultimate community.

  • Partnering with grassroots programs, like AFDC: Project Diversity’s Color of Ultimate showcase events, to raise awareness of racial and socioeconomic inequities in ultimate.

  • Lowering financial barriers to participation in ultimate via our Play It Forward program and the Delrico Johnson Fund.

Competition:

Once registered, participants may go out immediately and complete the skills according to each skill's directions. Filming your attempts and uploading the videos with your results is highly encouraged!

Result submissions will be due by 11:59 p.m. MT on Sunday, October 25, 2020.

Participants may complete these skills anywhere and everywhere they are able to do so safely and lawfully.

After the initial qualifying window (October 5-25, 2020), the top 5 participants/teams in Discathlon and Team divisions will be invited to the finals where they will be asked to complete the skills one more time with a required video for verification. The Finals window for these new results will run from 12:00 a.m. MT on Thursday, October 29, 2020 through 11:59 p.m. MT on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

Prizes:

All participants have a chance to win a prize!

The top three finishers in the Discathlon and Team event in each division will receive National Skills Challenge award discs. Everyone will be entered into a raffle for other great prizes from USA Ultimate and VC Ultimate!
