Tournament Sanctioning Application

 

Application Process

 

Step 1   Application  
  • Complete the application.  It's formatted as a word document that can be completed electronically and saved to your computer.
       
  • See TIPS for completing the Insurance Certificate Request form (pg. 4) of the application.
       
  • Special requirements apply when sanctioning particular divisions of an event.*
       

 

Step 2   Deposit  
  • ONLINE: Pay your deposit and/or late fees online.
       
  • CHECK: Checks for the deposit and late fees are also accepted.
       

 

Step 3   Submit  

       Return application and deposit to USAU:

  • Email: sanctioning@usaultimate.org
  • Mail: USA Ultimate, Attn: Event Sanctioning
       

 

Step 4   Follow-up  
  • Event managers will be notified of application status in 1-3 business days.
       
  • Refundable deposits are issued 3-4 weeks after final materials are received.

 

Application Deadlines

Organizers must select the event tier level appropriate for their event.  There are varying deadlines depending on the tier which you select.  The application deadlines are as follows:

EVENT TIER LEVEL        DEADLINE
Recreational Classic  
  • Application/deposit received 10 business days before event.
  • Late applications accepted up to 5 business days before event with payment of $50 late fee.
     
Recreational Premier  
  • Application/deposit received minimum of 15 business days before event.
  • Late applications not accepted.
     
Competitive Classic  
  • Application/deposit received 10 business days before event.
  • Late applications accepted up to 5 business days before event with payment of $50 late fee.
     
Competitive Premier  
  • Application/deposit received minimum of 15 business days before event.
  • Late applications not accepted.

 


All USAU sanctioned events are required to be insured.  USAU automatically provides general liability coverage for approved events.  Applications must be received prior to the start of the event (insurance certificates cannot be back-dated).

Events Manager of existing sanctioned events can request additional insurance certificates by completing the Insurance Request Form.  

*Organizers may apply to sanction a particular division of their event (i.e. a masters division or college division) if they abide by the following:

  • Provide $2 million of liability coverage for the entire event and provide USA Ultimate with a certificate of coverage naming USA Ultimate as an additional insured. The certificate must include the following:

Coverage of $2 million general aggregate and a $1 million each occurrence limit

  • Teams registered for a sanctioned event or division may only compete against other teams registered for the sanctioned event (i.e. teams may not compete against teams playing in a non-sanctioned division of the same event).
