Ultimate in the Classroom:

Each year, the UPA sets out to bring Ultimate to Physical Educators around the country. During the 2009-2010 school year the UPA will look to attend a select number of district conferences hosted by the Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD).

At these conferences the UPA sends representatives to exhibit, teach PE teachers about Ultimate, and give away information and equipment. In addition, at most conferences the UPA representatives will also give a one hour presentation on how to teach Ultimate. If you are a PE teacher that is interested in learning more about Ultimate, please stop by our booth at your state or regional convention!

Each fall USA Ultimate is represented at many of the State Association conferences of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). If you are interested in attending a conference on behalf of USA Ultimate, please contact education@usaultimate.org

"This will be very helpful to me. I mentioned your site to a number of our grads teaching at middle school. I also told them about the DVD. They are excited about how this can be included in their curriculum. Rugby has taken off well at middle school and now at highschool. Ultimate seems to capture some of the excitement of rugby but without a contact model to aspire towards. I find the fairplay and non-contact a great benefit. I have been incorporating disc play in my elementary program with my student teachers. Now I have the information needed to present Ultimate as an important option in Team Sports class and my Middle and Secondary Methods classes. Connected with the tactical approach or the sport ed model, this is a dynamic and viable opportunity to get kids moving." - Nancy Schmitz, Ed.D.

"Thank you for recently sending me a copy of the Ultimate Frisbee Middle and High School Curriculum and frisbees to go along with the unit.   It is a valuable resource and since I teach in an inner city school setting, a sport that kids value.  There is a very active adult Ultimate league here in our city and they play rain/snow/sleet-all weather. Thanks again for all of your support-my kids love frisbee activities already and play every day at recess. Thanks to a recent grant I obtained from our PTO, we have about twenty frisbees that get very active use daily!" - Francesca Zavacky, Venable Elementary School, Physical Education Specialist
