Founded in 2005 by Victor Maneilly and Christian Schwoerke with the innovative idea of "Hey, maybe we’d do better if we actually practiced," Boneyard makes its 6th trip to Sarasota this year.  Continuing with our philosophy of hard work, hard running, and relentless pressure, we look to improve on our previous results.

The bridge, the skatepark, the bluesman, the general with ridiculous sideburns. Portland's Burnside is born out of a collective search for that one last shot at glory. In early 2012 group organizers sent out an APB to gather the best that Portland had to offer with the hopes of prying men from their urban homesteading, chicken coop building, and micro brew filled weekends. Drawn in by the prospect of waking up in an October without rain jackets, the men came out of early forced retirements en masse and returned to the practice field.

When the dust settled not one, but two teams emerged: Burnside and its sibling, Sideburn. This natural, organic, free-range, system proved fruitful as both teams pushed each other to succeed and ultimately Burnside punched its first ever ticket to the big show.

Burnside is proud to represent the city where the young go to retire.
After all, someone has to go to work.

After a bit of drama over the summer, Chesapeaked, the team from Philadelphia and Washington DC, arrives in Sarasota once again to take on all comers. Never knowing what the roster will look like until the last minute; this team features a lot of new blood, even more than usual. With additions from Pike and Truck Stop along with a few players just arriving in town, they are looking to add new energy to their venerable talent and shake things up at this year’s Championships.

You have to walk before you run...

Over 10 years ago, some Phoenix players started the open team "Sprawl" in order to practice as a team, develop local players and play tournaments together.  They lost a lot of games at first.  Over the years they played against (and sometimes with) Desert competitors across Arizona and New Mexico.  Slowly Sprawl built its strength in Phoenix.  In 2012, some of the Sprawl players noticed an opportunity to play both with old teammates and alongside old opponents. Thus Crawl was created with players from Phoenix, Tucson and Santa Fe in order to best represent the strength of Desert Masters Ultimate.  Our infant Crawl team is proud to represent the Southwest in the Master Division's final official rendezvous with the Sarasota Polo Fields.

You have to run before you Crawl.

FIGJAM - a Calgary, Alberta based Masters Team - was assembled in the Summer of 2007 in attempt to claim Canada’s bid for WUCG 2008. Aptly nicknamed the ‘Buffalo Bills of Canadian Ultimate’, they have claimed 4 Canadian Ultimate Championship (CUC) Silver medals since their inception.

Attracting players from across the NW Region, FIGJAM made its first appearance at the USA Ultimate Championships in 2010 - finishing 5th overall and capturing the spirit award for the Masters Division. In 2011, they narrowly missed a second appearance in Sarasota, losing to eventual 5th place finisher Chalant in the game-to-go.

Green Light Ultimate Masters is returning to Sarasota to compete in our 7th Championship. GLUM is a 3 time Canadian National Champion and is looking to return to form and improve on our previous appearance in Sarasota where we lost on universe point in the semi-finals before finishing 3rd in 2010. GLUM is led by a core of returning players from 2010 like Brett Taylor, Owen Lumley, Brent Cournoyer, Seton Stiebert, Chris Keith, Derek Hodgson, Eric Gross and Captain Blayne Ferguson but has also has seen the influx of new talent to it’s roster with Nick Kaulbach, John McArton, Matt Chellew and Peyton Leung making a significant impact towards GLUM’s success. This is probably the deepest team GLUM has brought to the Championships in our 7 trips to Sarasota.

GLUM is a close knit group that likes to play hard on the field and enjoys life to the fullest off the field.

The doors of the saloon swung open, a slender silhouette pausing in between them before moving in smoothly to the bar.

"Barkeep, the McCloskey brothers are burning Silver Port over in Delta Sector. I rode all night to find the one man who can stand up to them, Johnny Bravo. He’s the strongest, fastest, bravest fighter the system has ever seen."

The bartender looked uneasy. "I guess you haven’t heard, ma’am, but Johnny’s retired now, just a legend. You’ll have to take your trouble on down the road."

Pounding her fist in frustration, she strode out the doors. Suddenly, like a ghost, a man was standing next to her.

"Easy there, miss. I might be able to help you. I can’t abide how the McCloskey brothers treat decent folk."

The woman looked over the grizzled man and his holstered laser pistol. He had a sharp and commanding look in his eye. His intense gaze made the small of her back grow warm.

"Johnny? Johnny Bravo? Is that you?", her breath caught.

"Not anymore. I go by Johnny Encore now. I may not play the young man’s game still, carousing every night, but I sure as hell ain’t dead. Let’s ride."

Initially hailing from the great state of Vermont (and to a lesser extent Massachusetts), we showed up at Nationals with 17 stallions last year. While the number 17 was once a great age for our bodies, 17 is not a great number of aged bodies, particularly when many are on the wrong side of the GM line and may soon be put out to pasture. We learned that we would be able to score more with more bodies and it is the young and fast bodies that are really nice to have.

Luckily, the Tide rolled in and we found our nets full of just the catch we were looking for- a few more Maine-iacs to add to the Green Mountain Boys.

Next, we went north of the border to bring a more international flair to our squad.  Scatter in a few strays from cities big and small to spice the mix and here we come again, hoping the lessons we learned pay off.

We look forward to seeing you on the fields and on the Koob court.

"For we have no enemies. We don’t permit such a thing." (Cormac McCarthy, No Country for Old Men)

Reckon is a term we use to let you know we understand.  A word used so much it has become culture.  Reckon, ain't, y'all, you will hear 'em all. We hail from the dirty-dirty South: throw it down, A-town, Bama, Knox, Nooga, and Nash.  We have a combination of bad air, big hair, soul music, and whack traffic. A place where neckties, flies, wife beaters and skeeters converge on humid days and sultry nights. We are a proud group of almosts and has-beens, ready to bring our high fives to some sun and surf, with intentions of grandeur, on some beautiful turf.  Bless your heart, y'all better stand back, and stay clear, for we r ‘bout to bring it, a reckoning...you hear? Y’all Reckon?

Surly was formed in 2005 out of the ashes of Gray Expectations. In 2007 we lost in the championship game to DoG. Since then we’ve been lucky to play in the finals each year, winning in 2008, 2010 and 2011. We are inordinately proud of winning the Spirit Award in 2011 with a perfect score and trust that the beer we hand out in no way influenced our scores. We were honored to compete at the World Championships in Prague in 2010 and Japan in 2012. We dedicate every season to our teammate, Marty F. Bakko, who passed away in 2009 and gives his name and character to the Master’s Division Spirit Award.

The 3rd season for Hollywood’s 7 Figures Golf and Polo Club brought with it the addition of 13 new club members and their assets.  This new money mingled well with our club’s established old money at the annual regional gala, resulting in a bullish return on investment and a second trip to Sarasota’s Polo Fields, a place where we understandably feel most welcome.  Indeed, in a break from a popular thesis voiced by the now deceased gentlemen known as Mr. Notorious B.I.G, we have discerned that more money does not create more problems.

To this end, you may find our dapper ladies and gentlemen celebrating the finer things in life such as speaking interesting English in swimming pools with movie stars, enjoying a smashing game of Guess Whom or chasing destiny in the form of Ultimate.

On the field we try as hard as we can. If we happen to meet you there this fine fall season our club endeavors to play your club in an agreeable, spirited match. That said, beware argyle.

        For the Club!

American BBQ was created by the FDA in the 1920’s to celebrate postwar enthusiasm for saucy meats and to help replenish a national void left from the massive casualties suffered by traditional BBQs during the great war.  Touted for its unparalleled flavor, vilified for its coronary malfeasance, American BBQ sought to redefine itself by studying German Efficiency at Carleton College in the 1960s.  It moved to California in the 70s and took graduate classes at UCLA before starting the now famous Guilt Free food movement.  Feeling increasingly marginalized by more exotic BBQs, American BBQ released a tell-all memoir called "No Kimchi!" in 1987, extolling itself as the nation’s leading cause of obesity and gastrointestinal vexation.  ABBQ sang tenor for the massively popular boy band "Ellen DegeneSWAG" who had a number one hit in the late 90s with "Can I Dang On That Meat?".  Currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, American BBQ hopes to one day become an Unesco world heritage site and a major world religion.  ABBQ is a leading player in the race to create the first 100% Angus beef veggie patty and in its spare time plays "ultimate" frisbee.

AMP is proud to represent the Founders' Section and Philadelphia at the Ultimate Club Championships for the eighth straight season. #brag.

We have played a prominent role in the creation and popularization of SpikeJam, a game combining the skill of Spikeball, the speed of Honey Pot, and the plastic container from Kan-Jam into an action-packed team sport; always played to a top score of 1. #brag.

Our teammate Bill Schrecker, unable to play this season due to injury, has nonetheless made every tournament and practice, encouraging the team relentlessly from the sideline. #brag.

Without the support of Bill, and our friends, family and fans, AMP’s success would not be possible.

Starting as a vendetta against the mixed ultimate politburo of the dirty dirty, the Bucket Ultimate dream began in 2008 in a dingy apartment on North Decatur road. Armed with has-beens and neverweres, the grassroots uprising of Bucket was born, capped by a nationals run in its first year of existence. As Bucket matured, as all great American corporations do, it outsourced its operations to China. Learning the value of prayers and vanilla rice, Bucket improved but hit a quarterfinal ceiling in ’09 and ’10, leaving itself with a yellow tint to its collar that needed bleaching. Approaching top American ultimate executives in 2011, Bucket hired the well known firm of Echterhoff, Hammond, and Blanco to push the team to the next level. But along the way, Bucket forgot its original blue collar ways, needing to recommit itself to the 99%. Bucket now has one goal in mind for 2012: OCCUPY SOTA. This year, Bucket is not afraid to do work. Not afraid to sleep on your lawn, grow a beard, forgo personal hygiene, or stop showering. So when the dust settles, and everyone is left asking, "What’s that smell?" You’ll know without a doubt, it’s the A-T-L.

We would have no team history if it wasn’t for the players who came before us, building a strong team foundation that made others want to Experience what Chad had to offer.  Thank you to them for their hard work that helped make this team what it is today.  Thank you to our family and friends who have supported us on our quest to become a national champion.  At times we have neglected you in favor of ultimate, but you have shown understanding and patience, even if you don’t get why we spend all of our time and money on "that frisbee game".  Thank you to the members of Gnarwhal, ISUC, Woman Scorned, and the Ames pickup crew for providing us with an opportunity to stay practiced.

The Chad Larson Experience is making a fourth straight nationals appearance.  Lifetime, the team has two second place finishes, 2 losses in semis, and one seventh place finish at USAU Mixed Club Nationals.  The team has represented the United States at two Club Worlds tournaments, finishing tenth in 2006 in Australia and earning gold in 2010 in The Czech Republic.

This will be Carver Misra’s first nationals experience.

Cosa Nostra is an Austin based team which also includes several talented Texans from other cities.  We are excited to represent the South Central region.  This is our second year as a team and our first trip together to nationals, led by some former Doublewide guys who realized mixed can be pretty darn fun.  Cosa Nostra comes from a name for the Sicilian mafia.  Translated as "our thing" it made sense since we have so much in common with The Family.  Bidding, running (from the cops), laundering things, making offers you can’t refuse.  We’re looking forward to bringing our Texas Mafia family to the lush green fields of Sarasota to play some ultimate!

Someone once said that four forces act together to cause a disc’s flight: gravity, lift, drag and thrust.  Drag'n Thrust -- burninating since 2009.  Drag'n is based out of the Twin Cities.  Now in our fourth year, we're excited to return many veteran fire-breathers while also nurturing some promising dragonlings.  Most of us didn't select our college for the Ultimate team, and as such we had to temper our claws against the minions of perennial mid-regionals finishers.  Now together, we've found our wings, and we ascend -- ready to scorch the fields and all who dare oppose us, obsessed by an insatiable hunger for shiny objects, sacrificial offerings, and a secret desire for acceptance.

Mischief. It means trickery, chicanery, and spirited fun. It means winning games with our legs, and when our legs can’t run any more, going the last mile with heart. It means always having more in the tank. It means putting everything on the line for your team, feeling the high of every victory, the heartbreak of every loss, and bouncing back stronger than ever. It means making superheroes out of ordinary people. It means rewarding the fans for sticking with us ‘til the very end, and then boatracing all who dare challenge us.

Old hands and fresh faces make this tenth-year team a Bay Area staple and a force to be reckoned with. And if you doubt? In the words of Ochocinco, "Child, please."

This is only the second year that Odyssee is together but most of the men have been teammates in the open division for many years and most of the women have been teammates in the women division for a long time too. At the beginning, we wanted to regroup the best players from Montreal (with a few outsiders of course) to win the 2011 Nationals and represent our country at the WUGC 2012 in Japan. Unfortunately, we fell short and lost in the finals.

But we had so much fun and attended great tournaments; in consequence, we took the decision to keep the team together. Our new goal for the 2012 season was to qualify for the USA Championships in Florida. This year was a great one for us, we had the chance to fly to Colorado and play against the top teams of the USA at the US Open, we also won our Canadian National Championship in Vancouver and now, we are going to Sarasota! A lot of our players have been playing for a decade or more and this is the first time they qualify for Sarasota. It is awesome and we are looking forward to play against the best!

Overhaul started in 2010 and returns to Sarasota for its third year in a row.  Based primarily in southeastern Michigan, our roster consists largely of alumni of local universities, as well as some current college players from the area. We’ve enjoyed assembling some of the top players in the state to practice and travel to tournaments for another season, and we’re looking forward to competing with the best mixed teams in the country.

Polar Bears are normally found in the circumpolar north, one of the coldest areas on Earth.  However in 2010, a group of Polar Bears was discovered in the East Bay of Northern California.  They have remained in the area for three years, continuing to show atypical behavior such as occasional migration around the U.S. to play in confined rectangular spaces, trolling, and maintaining a diet consisting greatly of oversized burritos.  Although these bears do not seem particularly athletic or coordinated, they often show displays of hard work and chemistry, which many times ends in demonstrations of coordinated paw clapping.  In this third year of their presence we have seen some new faces added to the core of the group and an increased hunger for ultimate.  For a glimpse of this unique group of Polar Bears, be sure to check out the fields of Sarasota this fall to capture their unusual behavior before their hibernation begins once again in the safety of their Northern Californian dens.

Slow White has qualified for nationals an unprecedented eight consecutive times, and only finished outside of the top eight once.  Face it, we're h4x as hell.  Despite losing impact players to the likes of Ironside, Phoenix and Brute Squad, we've re-tooled, and re-loaded and are looking to break through and claim the national championship that has eluded us for so long.  Over the years we've loved stuff and hated quail, we've worn jorts and grown mustaches, we drank Powerthirst while watching Wizard People, we always play like we party, and we’re all huge fans of Vin Diesel.  This year we're a baby elephant walking, 50 shades of the JMan reading group of #bestbuds going ham all over Sarasota.  And you know we're all DTML.  Dayum, Dayum, DAYUM!

Based out of Lexington, MA, but pulling players from New Hampshire and Maine as well, Wild Card is a first-year team that formed in the ashes of multiple disbanded Club teams and consisting primarily of former and current New England college players from schools such as Dartmouth, University of Maine-Farmington, University of New Hampshire, Tufts, and Boston College. With a team built around bringing together fun, hard-working players willing to do the work to play elite-level ultimate, this ragtag group of underdogs has been learning and growing with every game they play. They are very excited to prove themselves against the best in Sarasota with a roster of 27 Club Nationals rookies.

Boost Mobile was first established in 2010 as a player-focused team, built from current Stanford players and recent graduates.  The early tenets of the Boost program were development, learning, and the promotion of competitive ultimate for the younger generation of ultimate players. Boost saw some success in this first year winning the local Discos Calientes tournament in Chico, CA and placed 5th in the very tough (former) Northwest Region.

2011 saw Boost make its appearance on the national scene, competing in the Colorado Cup tournament, and even notching a win over Nationals qualifier Sub Zero. Following that season, there was growing discussion of expanding the roster to the greater Bay Area and shooting for a Nationals birth.

Young players were pulled in - adding graduates from Berkeley to Santa Cruz to Davis and beyond. The contributions from all 27 players across the roster helped Boost throughout the season. Although Boost is excited about the successes of this season, it continues to be forward-looking, hoping to become a strong national program over many years.  The strong focus on learning and development should serve them well.

After a disappointing 2011 Nationals campaign, Chain Lightning has retooled and is looking to make another deep run in 2012. Losing dance-floor studs Grant Lindsley and Kiran Thomas has made this year's team generally less attractive and less likable throughout the ultimate community. The loss of Peter Dempsey has also decreased the athleticism Atlanta ultimate is known for. Instead, Chain is a year slower, adding Jared Inselmann and Tyler Conger in honor of the club's 30th birthday. The guys have been training with EDGE Ultimate professionals and top-notch equipment. Overall, Chain has changed its look and mindset from years past, but one thing will stay the same...Chicks dig the long ball.

Doublewide is an elite frisbee club based in Austin, TX. We are a balanced team with all players committed to common goals: Play hard, fair, and with respect for our teammates and our opponents. Since its origin in 2001, Doublewide has won the Texas Section every year with one exception and is now the South Central Region's first champion. Reaching the semi-finals at Nationals the past two seasons, Doublewide’s goal is nothing short of a National title in 2012. Doublewide saw a solid performance at ECC and a semi finals appearance at Labor Day. Combining new youth and athleticism to the team along with an experienced core, Doublewide will be a serious threat in Sarasota.

After a disappointing conclusion to last year’s season, it was pretty much unspoken that the vast majority of Ironside would be returning for the 2012 campaign; in fact, 23 players from last year’s silver medal squad have again set sail with the Sarasota polo fields as their ultimate destination. With a bolstering of its ranks by the return of Will Neff, and the additions of veteran elite player Miles Montgomery-Butler together with fresh talent in Alex Cooper and Alex Simmons, Ironside is more like a never-ending armada of warships rather than a single boat.  Featuring a powerful defensive line, and an offense that has played together for yet another season, Ironside appears poised for another deep run into Nationals.

With the invaluable assistance of Tim Morrill, Ultimate’s premier strength and conditioning coach, Ironside has redoubled its efforts to become the top conditioned team attending the championships.  Among the rewards for its hard work, Ironside has also built a stronger sense of camaraderie both within the team and with Brute Squad (who also trains with Morrill).  Together, these teams have set their sights on once again competing in the finals and this time bringing back that elusive gold to Boston.  #getwet

Johnny Bravo was founded in 1996 by Dan Ackerstein, Wes Williams and Dan "Jello" Revelle.  (Note- Johnny Bravo was not named after the popular animated television series which first aired in 1997.)

The team was founded on vengeance by castoffs from the top Boulder-area team, Secret Squirrel.  Johnny Bravo quickly overtook their rivals and began their reign as the top elite team in Colorado, qualifying for Nationals in 1997.  Bravo split into two teams (Bravo and Gun Club) in 1998 and failed to qualify for Nationals after falling to the Santa Barbara Condors in the final and Los Guapos from San Diego in the backdoor game.  Bravo and Gun Club reunited in 1999 and took the name of the old Boulder team, Secret Squirrel.  After a disappointing 15th place finish at nationals in 1999, the team reclaimed their Johnny Bravo identity in 2000.   Bravo has qualified for Nationals every year since 2000, a feat matched by Seattle Sockeye and surpassed only by Raleigh’s Ring of Fire (1997).  Bravo broke into the quarterfinals in 2001 and has remained a top tier team ever since.  In the past few years, Bravo made three semifinals appearances and a finals appearance in 2007.

Machine has qualified for its seventh consecutive trip to Sarasota, a streak that began with the team’s first youth movement in 2006. This year, Machine earned the only bid from the newly formed Great Lakes region, and its second regional championship in three seasons.
2012 saw Machine return to ECC with strong results and a first trip to Labor Day in Santa Cruz where a one-point loss denied them a shot at the semifinals.

For the Club Championships, Machine features 26 athletes who form a cutter-heavy offensive attack and tall and stingy defense. This year, Machine looks to improve on its 9th place finish in 2011 with a trip to the quarterfinals. Hoot!

Madison Club dates back to the late 80's with various team incarnations taking shape through the decades: UW-Madison > Madison > G-Unit > S Box > Frontline > Madison Club. Past rivals for Madison include Minneapolis Sub Zero and Chicago Machine, with epic battles for Regional supremacy resulting in season defining moments. Collectively, a Madison based team has qualified for Nationals eight times since 1999, with recent successes including a Central Region title in 2009, respectable placings at UPA Club Nationals in 2009 (10th overall) and 2010 (11th overall), and the teams first ever USAU Club Nationals quarterfinals appearance in 2011 (7th overall).
Madison Club is excited to be back once again to USAU’s Club National Flat Ball Championships.

PoNY was formed in New York in 2005, in the interest in building a competitive team in a city where field space and free time were becoming notoriously difficult to come by.  PoNY has since maintained its benevolently competitive ethos while evolving as the City welcomes new, weird, talented players each year.  2012 is our Year of the Rat: part teamwork, part hustle, part grimy infestation.  In its 8th season, the Pone is psyched to come storming out of the Northeast Region and rumble with the field in Sarasota.

Revolver was established in 2006 when Nick Handler, Chris McManus, and Marc Weinberger came together to build a new Bay Area ultimate program from scratch. The captains sought to install a team-first mentality, to build strong team chemistry, and to use the values of intensity, humility, and discipline to define the team ethic. Since then Revolver has continued striving to demonstrate these values.

In its inaugural season in 2006 the team claimed a surprise 5th-place finish at Nationals, continuing to grow and develop through to its first finals appearance in 2009.  In 2010 Revolver captured a double-championship winning a Worlds gold medal at WUCC and a USA Ultimate gold in Florida thereafter.  In 2011 Revolver repeated as champions and earned the right to wear the jersey of team USA at WUGC in Japan, where it won gold again - the first USA Open Gold since 2000.
Building on the team’s history and ethics, following the leadership of Farricker Award winning players Rob Cahill and Bart Watson, and now bringing the confidence of being defending WUCC, WUGC, and 2-time USAU club champions, Revolver has their sights set on something not done yet this century: a three-peat of the USAU championship.

Although some of the names have changed, the flames keep rising for Raleigh's Ring of Fire. Now in its 23nd year, one of Ultimate's longest running programs returns to USA Club Championships with a revamped roster, honed offensive scheme and collection of young talent from the best college programs in North Carolina and Virginia. One thing that has not changed is their commitment to blue-collar, gritty defense and swagger that has defined Ring of Fire for over two decades. Ring Nation is always recruiting new fans, so come join us as we pay homage to the values of The Man in Black. Love, Is A Burning Thing.....

Sockeye is more than just a team…it is an ideology, a mechanism and a tale for our inexplicably conceived dreams of our unending desire to spawn and die, on repeat. The Fish, a misguided group of professional Gangnam Style hoodlums, know only how to put the team on their back and are unrelenting in Shark Attack Time. In all seriousness though, sweet shoes bro….No actually, they are terrible. GOT HEEEEM.

Sub Zero was established in 1997 by one guy from Carleton and another from Wisconsin. Gary, 6’3" and loud, wanted to huck while Steve, 5’8" and shy, wanted to swing. They toiled under dark clouds in order to gain the experience that allowed them to fly together. They’re now sprinkling the frost advisory over warmer climates for the 13th time.

Formed in 2002 when a group of college-aged pioneers wanted to play club Ultimate AND have fun at the same time, Brute Squad has worked our way to the top of the Boston Ultimate scene. Along the way, we've turned blood-thirsty, intra-city college and club rivals into beloved friends -- and more often than not, roommates. Under the advisory of our coach Bill Rodriguez, we've developed a crisp, composed offense with a tenacious and suffocating defense. This year marks our 10th trip to the Club Championships, a decade of amazing seasons in which we’ve made the quarterfinals twice, the semifinals three times, and the finals once. We are the Brute Squad. Also, the #glutesquad. OH-KAY, Boston!

In its seven-year history, Capitals Ultimate has made a name for itself on the UPA scene. In 2005, top-players from the Ottawa and Toronto competitive clubs joined to make a run at the series. After three days of competition in Sarasota, the Capitals shocked the crowds with a jump from 16th to 6th place. In its second and third seasons the team recorded two more top 8 finishes (7th/5th). With 2008 being a world clubs year, Capitals lost a few key players to Team Canada and had a new core of players getting their feet wet for the first time in Sarasota. The result was a 9th place finish in 2008. In 2009, the Capitals placed higher than ever before, losing their semi-final game by one point, and placing third. In 2010, the Capitals took the next step and made it to the finals, where they lost a hard-fought game to reigning champions Fury. 2011 saw another semi finals appearance from the Capitals. This year, after a core of players representing Canada at Worlds in Japan, the Capitals are back for another fall season aiming to impress on the polo fields of Sarasota.

Having recently had the honor of helping lead a clinic in Colombia through Ultimate Peace and then competing against some of the best and most spirited players in the world at WUGC in Japan, Fury is humbled by the amazing peace-creating work being done around the world through ultimate and fired up for USAU Nationals.  Japan's tight, disciplined playing style, Canada's speed and athleticism, Singapore's complete and total domination in the realm of the post-game cheer, the maze of subways the team navigated to and from the field complex each day, the heat, and the humidity all combined to test Fury's resilience throughout Worlds.  Japan taught the team a great deal about their own strengths and weaknesses, and this fall Fury has been appreciating and continually strengthening relationships between teammates in order to be able to be able to push each other to their individual and collective bests.  A fantastic rookie crew is building chemistry with a strong set of veteran leaders, and Fury will keep putting in the work to be the best ultimate players, communicators, and supporters of Spirit of the Game that we can be.

Heist formed in Madison, Wisconsin to give women the opportunity to play the game closer to home; however, our players come from Madison, WI, Iowa City, IA, Chicago, IL, Ames, IA and Lincoln, NE. Our love of the game keeps us at University Bay Fields longer than anyone else in town. Our history is being written by 26 selfless, determined, and gritty teammates who have put in the time and dedication to come out on top. Who is Heist? We have an athletic style of play with huge bids and feisty Heist-D, use strong language, give Eskimo kisses, make pudgy pies, and want to see the sport of Ultimate grow in the Midwest. We are hungry to win and to improve, we have no past to contend with, and we have magic within ourselves. Heist might be a new team, but we aren't going anywhere.

Hot Metal formed from steel in 2010. As a new team, Hot Metal's goals were to build a sustainable program that could compete at the highest potential by gathering some vets and taking on new athletic talent from area colleges and high schools. The belief was that by combining experience with young talent, we'd create an atmosphere of learning, winning and, equally as important, looking good.

With no one on the team being older than 29, the age range spanned 12 years, with an average age of 22 and exactly half a roster that had never played club ultimate before. 2011 proved similar, with influxes of talented young players. In 2012, the average age reached a record-breaking high at 23, and team drive has escalated. Taking on a new region, a new coach, and a bid to Nationals in year 3, Hot Metal is a happy crew and isn't looking back.

A new elite women’s ultimate team was formed in 2010, in an attempt by Denver/Boulder-area women’s ultimate players to put together a superstar roster of players in the area. After roughly 39,201 lines of Google spreadsheet doc debate, the team name was cemented: a tribute to a 20th century Colorado badass suffragette and survivor Maggie "Molly" Brown.

The Unsinkable Molly Brown is most well known for being a survivor of the 1912 Titanic disaster, who’s noble (but tragically futile) efforts to return to attempt to save any remaining iceberg-victims became the stuff of legend. What many don’t know that she left quite a legacy as both a philanthropist, advocate for workers and children, and women’s rights activist in the early 20th century, as well. She married a young entrepreneur, and together they grew quite wealthy in Leadville, Colorado, and later in Denver. Maggie remained committed to advocating for the less fortunate throughout her life, and was far ahead of her time on women’s rights issues, remaining friends and equals with her husband after their divorce, and even running for political office.

In Molly Brown’s inaugural season in 2010, we placed 9th at Club Nationals, an impressive entree for a fledgling team. In 2011 we advanced in skills, chemistry, and intensity and ended the season with a 7th place finish. In 2012 we retain the insight and direction of Coach Catt, a core of experienced and saavy athletes, and an extremely impressive roster of new players, both young and old.

"It does not seem, however, that Nemesis had her home with the gods.  [It is said] that only when men have become completely wicked will Nemesis-- her beautiful face veiled in white raiment-- leave the wide-wayed earth and depart to the company of the immortals" (1).

Until that time, she shall continue as she has for countless years before this one-- armed with a tireless defense, an un-improvised offense, and a scourge-- exacting her righteous revenge under the guise of an Ultimate Frisbee team hailing from North Chicago, South Chicago, and Chicago proper.

Ozone has history, as well as tradition.  From our founding in 1984 we have qualified for Nationals continuously since 1987 – 26 years running.  This season is a special one, however.  We have made changes in our leadership with the addition of Coach Kate Leslie.  We've got new and improved uniforms and partnered with Edge Ultimate to train. Ozone has also raised the bar, both in how we play the game and how we build a team. This year we rededicated ourselves to the idea that building a team and a system takes time, grit, and work.  Our offense is graceful, but our defense is blue collar.  And when the Youth of America line up with the wily veterans of the AARP, incredible things happen.  Once again we've inspired the best of the best to choose Ozone.  Nationals isn't the end of the season for us, it's the beginning of a new tradition in Atlanta.  Thank you to the teams that have made us better along the way, and thank you to our teammates who believe when we play together, we win together.

Phoenix was created in 2010 based on seven core values. The team is named after the mythical bird, a symbol of rebirth and immortality, which rises up out of its own ashes. Since the team’s creation, Phoenix has focused on building a program by bringing together and developing women’s Ultimate in North Carolina. The team’s strength comes from a blending of the wisdom and a wealth of experience from seasoned club veterans and the explosive talent of local college standouts. In its first season the team made Quarterfinals of the Club Championships. In its second season the team reached the Semifinals.

        Phoenix’s Core Values:

        1. We play for the love of the game.
        2. We play for our teammates.
        3. We are relentlessly positive
        4. We are coachable.
        5. We believe in Spirit of the Game.
        6. We believe that success and failure are not synonymous with winning and losing.
        7. We believe that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.

Since its formation in 2000, Riot has become a perennial powerhouse in the women’s club division. In fact, over the past decade, Riot has the lone distinction of making the semi-finals or finals in every single tournament the team has attended. We also won Club Worlds in 2002 and earned back-to-back UPA Club Championship titles in 2004 and 2005 along the way. This season, fifteen players return from the silver medalist roster of 2011 and the squad has reloaded with remarkable talent and athleticism, especially benefitting from the strength of the college programs in the Northwest. We are fortunate to be in one of the toughest regions in North America with rival club teams that push us to train harder and be smarter each year as we take pride in being the best team we can be.

This year marks Schwa’s return to the national stage after six long years and the team couldn’t be more excited! After forming in 1996, Schwa went to Nationals in nine of its first ten seasons and played for the championship in three of those appearances, helping establish the Northwest as the most formidable region in the women’s division. The last few years have seen a period of growth and renewal, with mostly new names gracing the Schwa roster. Not only the dedication of our players and our strategist, Danny Quarrell, but also the tenacity and skills of all of our Northwest neighbors, have helped us grow into the team we are today. We are proud to represent the name Schwa, Oregon, and the Pacific Northwest, and are looking forward to leaving it ALL on the fields in Sarasota.

"You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig."

Texas Showdown was founded in 2006, and this year is their 6thappearance on the beloved Sarasota Polo Club grounds. Intense defense, quick-moving offense, fearless captains, and the right mix of Butch Cassidies and Sundance Kids make this team one to be reckoned with. Is it the bracelets they wear that give them such spirit? Their trusty Moose-steed that gives them such strategy? Alls I know is, they are lookin’ good, and they aren’t fixing to stop neither.

Traffic formed in 2007, represented Canada at worlds in 2008, and has competed in the USA Ultimate Club Championships every year since 2008. 17 Traffic players represented Canada at Worlds 2012 in Japan this past summer, and all brought home a medal.

This year Traffic has 18 returning players. An up-and-coming player to look out for is Catherine Hui - otherwise known as Chewy.  She's a speedy blur on the field - with a huge smile.  Seasoned veterans to watch out for are power house Candice Chan, Bev '2012' Porter and the well known Kira Frew. This team is athletic, gritty and ready
        to take on anyone.

Founded in 2009, Seattle Underground (UG) quickly established a reputation as a team characterized by speed, skill, athleticism, work ethic, tenacity, teamwork and Spirit.  While UG struggled in its first three years to get out of the highly competitive Northwest Region, the team took advantage of the 2012 restructure and played a challenging regular season schedule to help the region earn four bids to Nationals.  This year, with the team’s largest number of returning players and it’s most talented rookies, UG finally realized its goal of competing at Nationals and proving the Seattle area has the talent to support two top-sixteen teams.
